We enjoyed having author Bev Davis at our library this fall.
Bev carries messages important to people of all ages about bullying, but also about following your dreams. She spoke to the audience about how being tormented by a childhood bully on the playgrounds of Chicago has followed her and impacted her throughout her life. We learned that bullying doesn’t just take place in elementary school. Students of all ages, and adults can experience the hurtful behavior of others.
Bev read from her book, Great Gray: A Book About Exceeding “No Expectations”, and shared how the story idea came to her in a dream when she was doing her residency work in theology and training to become a chaplain at a Wisconsin hospital.
Following your dreams was also a theme of Bev’s presentation. It’s OK to change your course in life and move on to a new adventure, as Bev did when she went from her career as a decorator to being a chaplain. Using her hurtful past, Bev has realized her potential in helping others through her simple stories of an elephant who was just a little bit different.
